Purium Review

Purium is a health and nutrition supplement designed to fill in the gaps that you miss when putting together your diet. It takes organic, non-GMO foods and turns them into a powder, which then extends the shelf life of the foods and makes it easier to store and transport them.

The company has several different products under the Purium label, each with the same claims of being all-natural, and each with its own list of ingredients.

Protein power shake ingredients:

  • Rice bran solubles
  • Spirulina
  • Oats
  • Carrot juice powder
  • Chia
  • Wheatgrass juice powder
  • Millet
  • Amaranth
  • Quinoa
  • Buckwheat
  • Alfalfa leaf juice powder
  • Oat grass juice powder

The idea behind this formula is to develop a protein powder that balances your cholesterol levels and assisting your body with digestion by including slow-burning carbs and easy to digest proteins.

Carrot juice contains vitamins A, C, D, K, and E, and is also full of antioxidants. Oat grass juice and alfalfa leaf are also rich in antioxidants.

Purium cleanse ingredients:

  • Black walnut hull
  • Clove
  • Wormwood
  • Seanna leaf
  • Cascara Sagrada bark
  • Cellulose

What the Reviews Say

Purium is a brand, not one specific product. This makes it hard to boil down the reviews into easy to digest bites of information. However, there are a few trends that appear over all of the products that carry the Purium name. Mainly, there are a high number of 5-star reviews, usually above 50%, then an even distribution down until you get to one star, which seems to take up about 25% of reviews on each product, which is worrying.

One complaint that is seen throughout negative and positive reviews, alike, is the price of some of the products. The 10-day transformation cleanse, for example, costs around $250. If you can afford this bombshell of a price tag, though, the reviews seem to be overwhelmingly in support of the touted effects.

“I lost 10 pounds in a week,” “easy to lose weight,” and “I lost 20 pounds,” are all common sights in the review section of the product, suggesting that the kit does actually work as it says it does. Whether or not that weight is going to stay off, though, is anyone’s guess.

The number one complaint by a landslide is with regard to the taste of the drink. “It makes me sick,” “Nothing about it makes you feel good,” these are just two of countless examples of people complaining about the taste of the product. Normally, it would be hard to agree with somebody complaining about the taste of a weight loss supplement, but this product claims to be a cleanser to make you feel good, which adds a bit more gravitas to those complaints.

One last thing worth mentioning is the presence of a few complaints claiming that items were left out of their purchase. These reviews are scattered, and there aren’t many of them, but it is still worth knowing.

Let’s dive further into what the negativity is saying.

One particularly vocal complaint goes as follows, “This product is complete BS, as it does not help you lose weight or reset your metabolism… It messed up my menstrual cycle.” This seems to be a unique case. However, in the comments, another user pointed something out. They said that the product is going to have an intense effect on your body if you are unhealthy, the product is designed for those who are already leading a healthy lifestyle, which is likely why so many people are reacting poorly to the product.

Whether this is a legitimate reason or not remains to be seen, but if it is the case, then Purium would do well to the point that out in the marketing run by the company.

Purium Pros and Cons

Let’s distill all of that information down into some bullet points to make understanding it a little better.

  • The products genuinely seem to work.
  • It is made from all organic non-GMO foods.

  • Some of the products cost an insane amount of money.
  • If you are unhealthy, the products aren’t going to react well with your body.

Purium and the BBB

The BBB, or the Better Business Bureau, is an organization that allows the public to quickly get a feel for the corporate moral and ethical implications of a company. In Purium’s case, the product is created by Organic by Nature Inc, which is not accredited by the BBB.

Regardless of not being accredited, the company does have an A+ rating after being in business for a total of 27 years, which is an absolutely incredible score.

Organic by Nature also trades under the names Green Kamut Corporation and Purium health products. So, if you see those names popping up anywhere else, know that it is the same company. The company has its headquarters based in California.

Where to Buy Purium

When it comes to buying health supplements, generally, it doesn’t make too much of a difference in which retailer you go to. That is not the case with Purium, and the why requires a bit of explaining.

Organic by Nature has turned Purium into an MLM organized product. For those unfamiliar with the terminology, MLM stands for Multi-level marketing, or in layman’s terms, a pyramid scheme. How a pyramid scheme works is that you get paid a commission for the product you sell, as well as a percentage of sales from anybody that you recruit to the program.

Where the issue lies is in the numbers. If you have 30 sales reps, and each of them recruits five people, you suddenly have 180 sales reps. This is an increase of 600%. This exponential increase goes up with each new member, making the structure completely unsustainable.

Pyramid scheme, or MLM marketeers, lost money 75% percent of the time. This type of organization structure has a horrible rep for a reason.

With that out of the way, we can only recommend buying directly from the source on the Purium website. Other retailers have a thread of reviews claiming them to be selling an old product, and you don’t know what you are getting when buying from somebody sucked into an MLM scheme, so keep yourself safe and buy from Purium directly.

Side Effects of Purium

We pretty much mentioned all of the side effects in the complaints and reviews, but it’s no harm to go over them again. An upset stomach, nausea, and a headache are the three main side effects to be aware of.

Refund Policy

There have actually been a few reviews complaining about the refund policy, although these are directed towards resellers of the product, not the manufacturer themselves, which makes it drastically harder to secure a refund.

The Purium refund policy is a standard 60-day money-back guarantee and not much else. It makes no mention of product usage or any of the terms under which an order must fall to be refunded, making each refund an individual case.

However, at the time of writing, Purium has a new temporary refund policy to protect from mass returns as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. For the time being, the policy is a 30-day, undamaged, unopened return policy.

Is it Worth Buying Purium?

The big question is Purium actually worth buying and using. The answer to that is, of course, on an individual base, but we can try to make some general recommendations.

First and foremost, Purium is an expensive product. It is a specialty product with a small target market; it is not for the average person trying to lose weight or be healthier. Now more than ever, we cannot afford to be making expensive purchases that are of little value to use, especially going into what is an economically uncertain future. So, if you’re tight on funds, or not who this product is aimed at, give it a miss.

Moreso, if you are already leading a relatively unhealthy lifestyle, you should also probably skip this product. The side effects are not drastic, but your body isn’t going to thank you for delivering a healthy shock to its system when it isn’t ready for one.

However, if you are already healthy, and are looking for a product to bolster your body, then you might want to give it a try. If you can afford it, that is. You should start out small to begin with, go with some of the inexpensive packages and products, and work your way up to the big stuff.

The company has a pretty lackluster refund policy, so the last thing you want to do is jump headfirst into the deep end. So, do yourself a favor and ease your way into the Purium product culture, so if you find that it isn’t exactly for you, you’re not several hundreds of dollars in the hole with no way to get them back.
